HAND-CHASED TEXTURES

Metal chasing is the ancient method of creating detail on metal using specialized tools, resembling small chisels, which are struck by a lightweight hammer. This technique has been in use for thousands of years to create art, improve detail on intricate cast parts, create low relief on sheet metal, or to otherwise enhance metal objects. The result is textured fields which can resemble other materials and have names which reflect their inspiration; names like sand matte, chagrine, linen, burlap, old iron, oak grain, peened, hammered, pebble, micro-matte, and French file. To fulfill our clients’ desires for more exotic hardware options, The Nanz Company has developed textures which may be applied to our products. The images below depict a selection of these textures.
